Transport through quasi-ballistic quantum wires: the role of contacts [PDF]
We model one-dimensional transport through each open channel of a quantum wire by a Luttinger liquid with three different interaction parameters for the leads, the contact regions and the wire, and with two barriers at the contacts.

ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.

Flow Topology in the Confluence of an Open Channel with Lateral Drainage Pipe
The purpose of this paper is to develop design guidelines for flood control channel height in the vicinity of the confluence of a submerged drainage pipe and a flood control channel.

Solving non-Markovian open quantum systems with multi-channel reservoir coupling
We extend the non-Markovian quantum state diffusion (QSD) equation to open quantum systems which exhibit multi-channel coupling to a harmonic oscillator reservoir.

ABSTRACT Background B‐acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B‐ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer, and while most children in high‐resource settings are cured, therapy carries risks for long‐term toxicities. Understanding parents’ concerns about these late effects is essential to guide anticipatory support and inform evolving therapeutic approaches ...

To satisfy the ever-increasing demands for high-performance ceramic foams that could be applied in catalysts loader, filtrations, and adsorptions, it is critical to develop technologies for ceramic foams with open-channel structure.

Quantifying non-Markovianity of continuous-variable Gaussian dynamical maps [PDF]
We introduce a non-Markovianity measure for continuous-variable open quantum systems based on the idea put forward in H.-P. Breuer, that is, by quantifying the flow of information from the environment back to the open system.

ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment and exercise intolerance are common in dialysis patients. Cerebral perfusion and oxygenation play a major role in both cognitive function and exercise execution; HD session per se aggravates cerebral ischemia in this population. This study aimed to compare cerebral oxygenation and perfusion at rest and in mild

Slow relaxation in weakly open vertex-splitting rational polygons [PDF]
The problem of splitting effects by vertex angles is discussed for nonintegrable rational polygonal billiards. A statistical analysis of the decay dynamics in weakly open polygons is given through the orbit survival probability. Two distinct channels for
