Study of the Effect of a Cooling Load on a Fluid Surface (Water) in an Open Channel [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
In this study the effect of cooling load on the surface water of an open channel with different flow depths is investigated. The method, which was used, involves an experimental laboratory set-up that contains a well-insulated cooling load over a finite ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Ceramic foams with highly open channel structure from direct foaming method in combination with hollow spheres as pore-former.

open access: yesJournal of Asian Ceramic Societies, 2021
To satisfy the ever-increasing demands for high-performance ceramic foams that could be applied in catalysts loader, filtrations, and adsorptions, it is critical to develop technologies for ceramic foams with open-channel structure.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
