Stochastic thermodynamics of rapidly driven quantum systems, [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
peer reviewedWe present the stochastic thermodynamics analysis of an open quantum system weakly coupled to multiple reservoirs and driven by a rapidly oscillating external field.

Digital quantum simulation framework for energy transport in an open quantum system

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
Quantum effects such as the environment assisted quantum transport (ENAQT) displayed in photosynthetic Fenna–Mathews–Olson (FMO) complex has been simulated on analog quantum simulators.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Local Spin and Open Quantum Systems: Clarifying Misconceptions, Unifying Approaches

open access: yes, 2020
We now show that Clark and Davidson local spins operators are perfectly defined subsystem operators if a fragment is taken as an open quantum system (OQS).

Nonlinear dynamics of open quantum systems

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2018
The evolution of a composite closed system using the integral wave equation with the kernel in the form of path integral is considered. It is supposed that a quantum particle is a subsystem of this system.

Efficient flow equations for dissipative systems

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2022
Open quantum systems provide an essential theoretical basis for the development of novel quantum technologies, since any real quantum system inevitably interacts with its environment. Lindblad master equations capture the effect of Markovian environments.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Practicality of spin chain wiring in diamond quantum technologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Coupled spin chains are promising candidates for wiring up qubits in solid-state quantum computing (QC). In particular, two nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond can be connected by a chain of implanted nitrogen impurities; when driven by suitable global ...

Quantum metrology with open dynamical systems

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
This paper studies quantum limits to dynamical sensors in the presence of decoherence. A modified purification approach is used to obtain tighter quantum detection and estimation error bounds for optical phase sensing and optomechanical force sensing ...

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.
