Mpemba Effects in Open Nonequilibrium Quantum Systems. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters
We generalize the classical thermal Mpemba effect (where an initially hot system relaxes faster to the final equilibrium state than a cold one) to open quantum systems coupled to several reservoirs.

Efficient Exploration of Hamiltonian Parameter Space for Optimal Control of Non-Markovian Open Quantum Systems. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2021
We present a general method to efficiently design optimal control sequences for non-Markovian open quantum systems, and illustrate it by optimizing the shape of a laser pulse to prepare a quantum dot in a specific state.

Hamiltonian assignment for open quantum systems

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
We investigate the problem of determining the Hamiltonian of a locally interacting open quantum system. To do so, we construct Hamiltonian estimators based on inverting a set of stationary, or dynamical, Heisenberg-Langevin equations of motion which rely

Open quantum systems for quarkonia [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2021
I review recent applications of the open quantum system framework in the understanding of quarkonium suppression in heavy-ion collisions, which has been used as a probe of the quark–gluon plasma for decades. The derivation of the Lindblad equations for quarkonium in both the quantum Brownian motion and the quantum optical limits and their ...

Open Quantum Systems’ Decay across Time [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2021
The description of an open quantum system's decay almost always requires several approximations as to remain tractable. Here, we first revisit the meaning, domain and seeming contradictions of a few of the most widely used of such approximations: semi-group Markovianity, linear response theory, Wigner--Weisskopf and rotating-wave approximation ...

Modulating thermal robustness and entanglement distribution in a two-dimensional dissipative spin system using impurities

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2022
We consider a finite two-dimensional Heisenberg triangular spin lattice coupled to a dissipative Markovian environment at finite temperature in the presence of an external uniform magnetic field.

Spectroscopic studies in open quantum systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The spectroscopic properties of an open quantum system are determined by the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of an effective Hamiltonian H consisting of the Hamiltonian H_0 of the corresponding closed system and a non-Hermitian correction term W arising ...

Pure Stationary States of Open Quantum Systems

open access: yes, 2003
Using Liouville space and superoperator formalism we consider pure stationary states of open and dissipative quantum systems. We discuss stationary states of open quantum systems, which coincide with stationary states of closed quantum systems.

High fidelity quantum gates of trapped ions in the presence of motional heating

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
We describe entangling quantum gates for trapped ions mediated by a dissipative bus mode and show that suitably designed, polychromatic control pulses decrease ion-phonon entanglement substantially while maintaining the mediated interaction.
