Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Indirect Measurement Method for Effective Work Function of Electrode in Thermionic Energy Converter

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
In the thermionic energy conversion of Cs-charged, the work function of the electrodes, especially the effective work function of the electrode material in the Cs-absorbing state, has a decisive impact on its power generation performance.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS OF THE WEBBING USED IN AUTO SEATBELTS [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the University of Oradea: Fascicle of Textiles, Leatherwork, 2016
The reason this paper was made was to identify the functions with the highest importance factor of webbing used in auto seatbelts. For these functions to satisfy all the requirements of operating, functions resulted from analyzing the properties of the ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The impact of using a proton exchange membrane on alkaline fuel cell performance

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2015
A hydrogen fuel cell was designed in the laboratory, operating in potentiostatic mode (1 V, 1.23 V, 1.5 V and 5 V), obtaining characteristic parameters that allow improving hydrogen production by means of electrolysis.

Selective cloning of Gaussian states by linear optics

open access: yes, 2007
We investigate the performances of a selective cloning machine based on linear optical elements and Gaussian measurements, which allows to clone at will one of the two incoming input states.
