Operating Room Scheduling by Computer
Anesthesia & Analgesia, 1977The surgical operating room schedule has been produced automatically for more than 2 years in our large teaching hospital. In order to apply computer technology to the complex surgical scheduling problem a special programming approach was devised. We discuss this approach under the headings of Expand, Sort, Order and Assign.

The Operational Airline Crew Scheduling Problem
Transportation Science, 1998This paper describes the operational airline crew scheduling problem and represents a first published attempt to solve it. The problem consists of modifying, as necessary, personalized planned monthly assignments of airline crew members during day-to-day operations.

OPERATOR'S ASSIGNMENT PROBLEM IN WORKSHOP SCHEDULING
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006Abstract This article deals with the impact of machines operator's assignment on jobs processing times in workshop scheduling problems. We are interested to the case in which the number of operators is lower than the number of machines, operators being able to supervise several machines simultaneously, and operator's assignments affect machines ...

Abstract Scheduling operations on a farm is considered depending on the available men and machinery and on the influence of the weather on materials (moisture content). A simulation model with a heuristic strategy for selecting operations at each moment of decision based on the state of the system and a linear programming model are used in the grain ...

A dynamic scheduling approach for optimizing the material handling operations in a robotic cell
Computers & Operations Research, 2018This paper investigates a real-time dynamic job-shop scheduling problem in a robotic cell, in which multiple jobs enter into the cell with unexpected arriving rates.

Scheduling with alternative operations
IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation, 1993The incorporation of alternative operations in a scheduling system increases the utilization rate of resources and reduces the makespan of manufacturing products. A heuristic algorithm is developed for a scheduling problem with and without alternative operations. The effect of alternative operations on the performance of schedules generated are studied

We have shown in Section 7.4 that the operations scheduling problem (7.1) – (7.9) is NP-hard. Hence, optimal algorithms are not applicable for industrial applications, where hundreds to thousands of operations have to be scheduled within minutes of CPU-time. We will therefore consider two types of heuristics: construction heuristics in Section 10.1 (cf.

Operating theatre scheduling using Lagrangian relaxation
European J. of Industrial Engineering, 2006This paper addresses the surgery operation scheduling problem. Two types of resources are considered, operating rooms and recovery beds. Each patient first visits an operating room for surgery operation and is transferred to a recovery room immediately after the surgery operation.

Collaborative Operating Room Planning and Scheduling
INFORMS Journal on Computing, 2017Operating rooms (ORs) play a substantial role in hospital profitability, and their optimal utilization is conducive to containing the cost of surgical service delivery, shortening surgical patient wait times, and increasing patient admissions. We extend the OR planning and scheduling problem from a single independent hospital to a coalition of multiple
