Collaborative Operating Room Planning and Scheduling

INFORMS Journal on Computing, 2017
Operating rooms (ORs) play a substantial role in hospital profitability, and their optimal utilization is conducive to containing the cost of surgical service delivery, shortening surgical patient wait times, and increasing patient admissions. We extend the OR planning and scheduling problem from a single independent hospital to a coalition of multiple

Operating Room Scheduling

AORN Journal, 1991
The multiple criteria involved in the hospital OR scheduling problem cannot be ignored. Our goal is to identify the important criteria regarding this problem and determine the degree to which the scheduling approaches in use do or do not support these criteria.

OPERATOR'S ASSIGNMENT PROBLEM IN WORKSHOP SCHEDULING

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
Abstract This article deals with the impact of machines operator's assignment on jobs processing times in workshop scheduling problems. We are interested to the case in which the number of operators is lower than the number of machines, operators being able to supervise several machines simultaneously, and operator's assignments affect machines ...

Operating rooms scheduling

International Journal of Production Economics, 2006
Abstract Many healthcare institutions have been researching tools to reduce costs and to ensure efficient use of hospital facilities. Operating rooms are considered among the most costly hospital facilities. In the present work, a two-step approach for operating rooms scheduling is introduced.

Scheduling in the operation-oriented paradigm

Proceedings of the Second IEEE Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing 1990, 2002
In the operation-oriented paradigm of parallel programming, processes form a client-server relationship among themselves. Servers provide operations which can be called by the clients. The order in which the operations are executed by the server depends on the requirement of maintaining the integrity of the service (synchronization), and offering an ...

Scheduling Techniques for Operating Systems

Computer, 1976
One of the primary functions of an operating system is to distribute the resources under its control among the users of the system in such a way as to achieve installation standards of performance (including service).

Priority Operators for Fairshare Scheduling

2015
Collaborative resource sharing in distributed computing requires scalable mechanisms for allocation and control of user quotas. Decentralized fairshare prioritization is a technique for enforcement of user quotas that can be realized without centralized control. The technique is based on influencing the job scheduling order of local resource management

Scheduling Drayage Operations in Synchromodal Transport

2017
We study the problem of scheduling drayage operations in synchromodal transport. Besides the usual decisions to time the pick-up and delivery of containers, and to route the vehicles that transport them, synchromodal transport includes the assignment of terminals for empty and loaded containers.

A heuristic for scheduling problems, especially for scheduling farm operations

European Journal of Operational Research, 1988
To obtain a schedule for farm operations with techniques like linear programming or dynamic programming is a time-consuming task. It asks for a lot of computer-memory and therefore, only small problems can be solved. But, practice asks for better solvers which can be used for large problems.

Scheduling of Drawbridge Operations

Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE, 1977
A procedure for determining the operational method and schedule for a drawbridge is presented. The procedure is applied to a location with conflicting recreational traffic flows, both waterborne and vehicular. Many aspects of the drawbridge scheduling process are related to an analogous problem: timing vehicular traffic signals.
