Weighted almost convergence and related infinite matrices

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2018
The purpose of this paper is to introduce the notion of weighted almost convergence of a sequence and prove that this sequence endowed with the sup-norm ∥ ⋅ ∥ ∞ ${\Vert \cdot \Vert } _{\infty}$ is a BK-space. We also define the notions of weighted almost

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Cost-Effective Target Capacity Assessment in the Energy Transition: The Italian Methodology

open access: yesEnergies
Long-term transmission expansion planning has to face the energy transition in a restructured electricity market environment. Increased transmission capacity within and between Member States is likely to play an essential role in maintaining the secure ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Operator logarithms and exponentials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Since Mclntosh's introduction of the ∞-calculus for sectorial operators, the topic has been studied by many authors. Haase has constructed a similar functional calculus for strip-type operators, and has also developed an abstract framework which unifies ...

Statistical Properties of Electricity Generation from a Large System of Wind Plants and Demand for Fast Regulation

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems, 2017
Experimental data of total wind generation, recorded at 5 minute intervals and published by the Bonneville Power Administration for the years 2007 to 2013, were analyzed on a year by year basis.

Maximal nonnegative and $\theta$-accretive extensions of a positive definite linear relation

open access: yesKarpatsʹkì Matematičnì Publìkacìï, 2020
Let $L_{0}$ be a closed linear positive definite relation ("multivalued operator") in a complex Hilbert space. Using the methods of the extension theory of linear transformations in a Hilbert space, in the terms of so called boundary value spaces ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.
