Optic Disc Identification Methods for Retinal Images [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Science Journal of Moldova, 2014
Presented are the methods proposed by authors to identify and model the optic disc in colour retinal images. The first three our approaches localized the optic disc in two steps: a) in the green component of RGB image the optic disc area is detected ...

Response of a galactic disc to vertical perturbations : Strong dependence on density distribution [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, Volume 406, Issue 1, pp. 576-585, 2010, 2010
We study the self-consistent, linear response of a galactic disc to non-axisymmetric perturbations in the vertical direction as due to a tidal encounter, and show that the density distribution near the disc mid-plane has a strong impact on the radius beyond which distortions like warps develop.

Cytoplasmic delivery of antibodies through grafting a functional single complementarity‐determining region loop

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We achieved cytoplasmic delivery of non‐cell‐penetrating IgGs by grafting a single functional complementarity‐determining region 1 (CDR1) from the light chain variable region (VL) of the cell‐internalizable 3D8 antibody. The engineered IgG acquired cell‐penetrating ability while maintaining antigen affinity, highlighting CDR1 grafting as a promising ...

Disc edge veins of Kraupa associated with optic disc drusen

open access: yesGMS Ophthalmology Cases, 2014
[english] Objective: Disc edge veins of Kraupa are a rare anomaly of the retinal venous system in which the main trunk of the retinal vein disappeared into the margin of the optic disc instead of its centre. Methods: A 40-year-old woman was detected to ...

Clinical characteristics depending on magnetic resonance imaging patterns in idiopathic isolated optic neuritis

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
To investigate differences in clinical features based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in idiopathic isolated optic neuritis patients. We retrospectively analyzed 68 eyes of 59 patients diagnosed with optic neuritis and showed inflammatory findings ...

Signatures of broken protoplanetary discs in scattered light and in sub-millimetre observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Spatially resolved observations of protoplanetary discs are revealing that their inner regions can be warped or broken from the outer disc. A few mechanisms are known to lead to such 3D structures; among them, the interaction with a stellar companion.

A Case of a Young Asymptomatic Woman with Optic Disc Drusen and Vasculitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Purpose: We present the case of a young woman with optic disc drusen and peripheral vasculitis. Methods: Diagnosis was based on fundoscopic, optical coherence tomography as well as fluorescein angiography (FA) findings.

Respiratory complex I‐mediated NAD+ regeneration regulates cancer cell proliferation through the transcriptional and translational control of p21Cip1 expression by SIRT3 and SIRT7

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
NAD+ regeneration by mitochondrial complex I NADH dehydrogenase is important for cancer cell proliferation. Specifically, NAD+ is necessary for the activities of NAD+‐dependent deacetylases SIRT3 and SIRT7, which suppress the expression of p21Cip1 cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor, an antiproliferative molecule, at the translational and transcriptional

The Location of the Deepest Point of the Eyeball Determines the Optic Disc Configuration

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Tilted and rotated appearances are hallmarks of the myopic optic disc. As the eyeball grows axially, the posterior pole elongates not only globally but in a localized manner as well.
