Sensitivity and specificity of nonmydriatic digital imaging in screening diabetic retinopathy in Indian eyes

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
Background: Nonmydriatic digital imaging (NMDI) is ideal for screening diabetic retinopathy (DR), but its use in Indian eyes has not been evaluated. Aim: The aim was to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of NMDI as a screening tool in detecting DR ...

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

An unusual coexistence of iris mammillations and optic disc pit with keratoconus: A case report and literature review

open access: yesTaiwan Journal of Ophthalmology
Iris mammillations are distinctive uniform nipple-like elevations that cover the anterior surface of the iris partially or totally. It is a rare finding and may coexist with other ocular and extraocular manifestations.

Aspergillus terreus endogenous endophthalmitis: Report of a case and review of literature

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
We report a rare case of Aspergillus terreus endogenous endophthalmitis in an immunocompetent patient with subretinal abscess and also review the reported cases. A 50-year-old healthy male presented with sudden painful loss of vision in right eye. He was

Unusual Coexistence of Bilateral Keratoconus and Optic Disc Pit: A Case Report

open access: yes, 2008
Purpose To report the unknown coexistence of bilateral optic disc pit and keratoconus. Methods A 23-year-old man with bilateral keratoconus underwent complete ophthalmology screening, with an unexpected detection of undiagnosed optic disc pit in both ...

Defect Evolution and Mechanical Performance of Fused Filament Fabrication‐Manufactured 17‐4PH Stainless Steel Revealed by X‐Ray Computed Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography reveals how process‐induced defects evolve from green to sintered states in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)‐manufactured 17‐4PH stainless steel. Internal porosity, weakest cross‐sections, and fracture locations show strong correlation with tensile performance, demonstrating the potential of computed tomography (CT)‐based ...

Computerised Three-Dimensional Analysis of Optic Nerve Head Topography in Normal and Glaucomatous Eyes

open access: yes, 1999
Evaluation of the optic nerve head topography is one of the most important methods to diagnose and monitor patients with glaucoma. Until recently, optic nerve head topography has most often been judged by either ophthalmoscopy or from optic disc ...

The use of ocular coherence tomography in evaluating optic nerve health in eyes with large disc size [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Large discs are often associated with large cups; in order to exclude glaucomatous cupping a good objective tool is needed. The purpose of this study is to evaluate ocular coherence tomography (OCT) optic nerve head (ONH) parameters as indicators of ...

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.
