CRAVEN: A Camera–Radar Attention‐Based Voxel Encoding Network for 3D Object Detection

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar &Navigation, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
(1) A multiscale aggregation modelling strategy is introduced to effectively capture local geometric structures of sparse radar point clouds. (2) An attention‐based pillar representation framework is proposed for 4D mmWave radar point clouds, replacing heuristic voxel aggregation with learnable attention‐based modelling to significantly enhance feature

Radio Scintillation and Gravity Wave Characteristics in the Venusian Atmosphere: Insights From Akatsuki Radio Occultation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract We investigated the relationship between radio scintillations—short‐term fluctuations in radio signal intensity—and temperature fluctuations, both observed in vertical profiles from JAXA's Akatsuki radio occultation. Our results indicate that the radio scintillations and the temperature fluctuations are each strongly related to static ...

Long-distance indoor optical camera communication using side-emitting fibers as distributed transmitters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
We present a design approach for a long-distance optical camera communication (OCC) system using side-emitting fibers as distributed transmitters. We demonstrate our approach feasibility by increasing the transmission distance by two orders up to 40 m ...

Prediction of Speech Impairment in Patients Treated for Oral or Oropharyngeal Cancer Using Automatic Speech Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Language &Communication Disorders, Volume 60, Issue 5, September/October 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Perceptual evaluation of speech disorders produces scores that poorly predict the consequences of speech impairment on the communication abilities of patients treated for oral/oropharyngeal cancer. This may be mitigated by automatic speech analysis.

Stereopsis–Occlusion Conflicts Impair Visual Performance in Augmented Reality

open access: yesJournal of the Society for Information Display, Volume 33, Issue 8, Page 937-947, August 2025.
Stereopsis‐occlusion conflicts occur when AR augmentations are rendered behind real‐world physical objects without handling occlusion. This study shows that these conflicts can be more detrimental to visual performance than vergence‐accommodation conflicts, especially for augmentations of far objects.
