Influence of the arterial elastic component on the response to balloon angioplasty in femoral arteries of a healthy porcine model

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the role of elastin in vascular response 28 days after balloon angioplasty using uncoated and paclitaxel‐coated balloons in a healthy porcine model. The results show higher elastin content in external femoral arteries, which is inversely correlated with vascular injury, inflammation, smooth muscle cell loss, proteoglycan and fibrin

In vivo laser Doppler holography of the human retina

open access: yes, 2018
The eye offers a unique opportunity for non-invasive exploration of cardiovascular diseases. Optical angiography in the retina requires sensitive measurements, which hinders conventional full-field laser Doppler imaging schemes.

Optical coherence tomography angiography as a potential screening tool for cerebral small vessel diseases

open access: yesAlzheimer's Research & Therapy, 2020
Background The retina and the brain share anatomic, embryologic, and physiologic characteristics. Therefore, retinal imaging in patients with brain disorders has been of significant interest. Using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), a novel

Establishment of a novel alloxan‐induced rabbit model exhibiting unique diabetic retinal neuropathy features assessed via ERG + VEP

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Study workflow. Neuroretinal changes were observed in alloxan‐induced diabetic rabbits, while the retinal vasculature remained unaffected, indicating the successful establishment of a diabetic neuroretinal model. Abstract Background Diabetic retinal neuropathy (DRN) leads to significant visual impairment; however, no existing animal model fully ...

Characterization of Laser-Resistant Port Wine Stain Blood Vessels Using In Vivo Reflectance Confocal Microscopy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background and objectivesPort wine stain (PWS) is a congenital vascular malformation of the human skin. Laser is the treatment of choice for PWS. Laser-resistant PWS is one crucial factor accounting for inadequate treatment outcome, which needs to be ...

Comparison between intermediate and severe coronary stenoses and clinical outcomes of an OCT-guided PCI strategy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We compared optical coherence tomography (OCT) features of intermediate and severe coronary stenoses in patients with stable angina and acute coronary syndrome (ACS), and tested the clinical impact of an OCT-based strategy for treating intermediate ...
