Monocytes with trained immunity–like signatures are associated with acute anterior uveitis in ankylosing spondylitis

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
In ankylosing spondylitis‐acute anterior uveitis (AS‐AAU), trained immunity monocytes (Mono‐TI) differentiate into macrophages in the eye, retaining trained immunity features. Mono‐TI cells secrete pro‐inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, including IL‐1β, TNF‐α, and CCL3.

Characterization of the X-ray light curve of the gamma Cas-like B1e star HD110432

open access: yes, 2012
HD 110432 (BZ Cru; B1Ve) is the brightest member of a small group of "gamma Cas analogs" that emit copious hard X-ray flux, punctuated by ubiquitous "flares." To characterize the X-ray time history of this star, we made a series of six RXTE multi-visit ...

Asprosin as a Potential Link Between Vascular Inflammation and Disease Activity in Behçet's Disease

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Serum asprosin levels are significantly elevated in patients with Behçet's disease compared to healthy controls. Asprosin concentrations increase progressively with disease activity and are strongly associated with vascular involvement and uveitis, suggesting a potential role as a biomarker of vascular inflammation and disease severity.

FUMES. IV. Optical and Far-ultraviolet Spectra of a Flare on the M Dwarf GJ 4334

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
On 2017 September 20, we observed GJ 4334, an M5V dwarf rotating with a period of 23.5 days, simultaneously with both the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph aboard Hubble (1160–1710 Å) and the Dual Imaging Spectrograph mounted on the 3.5 m telescope at

Polarization and Spectral Energy Distribution in OJ 287 during the 2016/17 Outbursts

open access: yesGalaxies, 2017
We report optical photometric and polarimetric observations of the blazar OJ 287 gathered during 2016/17. The high level of activity, noticed after the General Relativity Centenary flare, is argued to be part of the follow-up flares that exhibited high ...

Multifrequency monitoring of the blazar 0716+714 during the GASP-WEBT-AGILE campaign of 2007

open access: yes, 2008
Since the CGRO operation in 1991-2000, one of the primary unresolved questions about the blazar gamma-ray emission has been its possible correlation with the low-energy (in particular optical) emission. To help answer this problem, the Whole Earth Blazar

Thin Maxwellian Virtual Reality Near‐Eye Display Using Holographic Optical Element and Mini‐Fresnel Lens Array

open access: yesJournal of the Society for Information Display, EarlyView.
A thin Maxwellian‐view VR near‐eye display based on a holographic optical element (HOE) is presented. Integrating the HOE with the display panel eliminates the structural gap, achieving an 8‐mm internal spacing. Accommodation‐independent image sharpness is experimentally verified over a 0‐ to 3.3‐D range, mitigating the vergence–accommodation conflict.

Patient Characteristics, Disease Profile and Treatment Patterns in Mild and Moderate Psoriasis Patients: Results From Real‐World Clinical Practices in Five European Countries (PROSPECT Study)

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Categorisation of psoriasis (PsO) disease severity in patients varies, although body surface area (BSA) affected is commonly used (< 3% ‘mild’, 3%–10% ‘moderate’ and > 10% ‘severe’). While moderate‐severe PsO has been well‐studied, more limited information regarding mild‐to‐moderate PsO is available.

New Biologic and Small Molecule Therapies for Hidradenitis Suppurativa

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is an inflammatory skin disease that has historically been underdiagnosed and, until recently, under‐researched. Furthermore, the pathophysiology of HS is complex, and not fully understood. Just three biologic medications—adalimumab (anti‐TNF‐α), secukinumab (anti‐IL17A) and bimekizumab (anti‐IL17A/F) are licensed

S5 1803+78 Revisited

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2012
We report on our optical monitoring of the BL Lac object S5 1803+78 from 1996 to 2011. The source showed no clear periodicity, but a time scale of about 1 300 days between major flares is possibly present. No systematic trend of the color index with flux
