Entanglement generation with integrated optical frequency comb sources

open access: yes, 2017
We show that integrated optical frequency comb sources, based on on-chip microring resonators, can be used as versatile sources of two- and multi-photon entangled states when operated well below their optical parametric oscillation threshold.

Technology Transfer to Underwater Archaeology: The LAHKE Project at the Submerged Neolithic Site of La Marmotta

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This document is a report on the field application of non‐invasive geophysical and robotic prospecting methods at the submerged Neolithic site of La Marmotta (Lake Bracciano, Italy), within the LAHKE (LAke Heritage Knowledge and Exploration) project; the study focuses on the practical validation, adaptation and transfer of existing ...

On-chip quantum optical frequency comb sources

open access: yes, 2018
Integrated optical frequency comb sources, based on nonlinear microring resonators, can be used to generate complex quantum states. In particular, we achieved multi-photon and high-dimensional entangled quantum states, as well as their coherent control. ©

Photonic microwave harmonic generator driven by an optoelectronic ring oscillator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We describe a new architecture to generate microwave signals by optical means. Our system combines the advantages of two techniques: frequency multipliers and loop oscillators.

Transfersomes with core and surface‐loaded NF‐κB p65 siRNA for enhanced transdermal transfection and effective treatment of psoriasis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
TCPL, a transfersome with Tween 80 and PEI, enables efficient transdermal siNF‐κB delivery, resolving PEI's toxicity issue. It promotes lysosomal escape and effective transfection, silences NF‐κB, modulates immunity, and inhibits angiogenesis, alleviating psoriasis. With good biocompatibility, TCPL holds strong clinical translation potential. Schematic

Frequency Comb-Based WDM Transmission Systems Enabling Joint Signal Processing

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
We review the use of optical frequency combs in wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) fiber optic communication systems. In particular, we focus on the unique possibilities that are opened up by the stability of the comb-line spacing and the phase ...

Loss, persistence and reversal of phenotypic traits

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The irreversibility of complex trait loss has long been a tenet of evolutionary biology. However, this idea is increasingly at odds with the numerous documented exceptions across the Tree of Life. We synthesise this growing body of evidence across a diverse array of taxa and traits, exploring the evolutionary conditions that enable ...

Optical frequency combs and optical frequency measurements

open access: yes, 2014
Self-referenced optical frequency combs are nowadays the instrument of choice in time and frequency metrology when dealing with high accuracy and stability measurements of optical frequencies. Beyond this purely measurement activity, they also have new high performance applications, such as low phase noise microwave generation and transfer of spectral ...

Hybrid Kerr-electro-optic frequency combs on thin-film lithium niobate

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications
Optical frequency combs are indispensable links between the optical and microwave domains. Chip-scale integration promises compact, scalable, and power-efficient frequency comb sources, enabled by the resonantly-enhanced Kerr effect or the electro-optic ...

A novel continuously variable angular vertical comb-drive with application in scanning micromirror

open access: yes, 2013
An angular vertical comb-drive (AVC) with electrically controllable initial comb-offset is presented in the context of a single crystalline silicon scanning micromirror.
