Endless frequency shifting of optical frequency comb lines
The functional principle of a novel technique for frequency shifting lines of an optical frequency comb is demonstrated. The underlying principle is to shift the carrier frequency by changing the carrier phase within the time span between subsequent pulses of a mode-locked laser used as comb generator.

Homodyne OFDM using simple optical carrier recovery [PDF]
We demonstrate a novel optical injection locking approach to carrier recovery in RF-pilot aided OFDM. Any need for optical pre-filtering is eliminated and only very narrow guard bands are required.

ABSTRACT The global trend toward sustainable and intensified bioprocesses is driving innovation in the design and scalable synthesis of liposomal nanocarriers, a cornerstone of modern drug delivery. For decades, these nanosystems have relied exclusively on polyethylene glycol (PEG) for their sustained circulation in vivo, but they are currently ...

Recent Advances in Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Integrated Photonics
This review systematically surveys recent advances in stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) within integrated photonics. It begins by elucidating the fundamental mechanisms of stimulated coupling between photons and acoustic phonons in nanoscale waveguides, enhanced by the photoelastic and moving boundary effects.

Guiding and Manipulating Light Fields in Microstructured Liquid Crystals
This review summarizes recent advances in guided‐wave optics enabled by microstructured liquid crystal (LC) devices, covering their fundamental material properties, key degree of freedom for dynamic light field manipulations. The advances of linear guided‐wave optics, nonlinear‐optics with spatial optical solitons, and microlasers in LC‐based devices ...

Quantum dot mode-locked frequency comb with ultra-stable 25.5 GHz spacing between 20 °C and 120 °C [PDF]
Semiconductor mode-locked lasers (MLLs) are promising frequency comb sources for dense wavelength-division-multiplexing (DWDM) data communications. Practical data communication requires a frequency-stable comb source in a temperature-varying environment ...

Abstract Basking sharks, Cetorhinus maximus (Gunnerus, Brugden [Squalus maximus], Det Kongelige Norske Videnskabers Selskabs Skrifter, 1765, vol. 3, pp. 33–49), feed by gaping their mouths and gill slits, greatly reorienting their cranial skeletons to filter food from water.

Abstract Hadrosaurid dinosaurs are generally regarded as “crested” or “non‐crested” depending on the presence or absence of a bony cranial crest. At least one supposedly “non‐crested” hadrosaur is known to have possessed a soft tissue cranial crest (or comb), based on an exceptionally preserved “mummified” specimen. Here we redescribe this specimen and
