Optical resonators for frequency combs

2006 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and 2006 Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference, 2006
The development of high finesse resonators for broadband frequency combs enabled the extension of the versatile frequency comb technique into the extreme ultraviolet with all its implications. We describe new developments in this field.

Accuracy of optical frequency comb generation in optical fiber

Optics Letters, 1999
We evaluated the accuracy of an optical frequency comb in optical fibers by measuring the frequency shift after a sideband from an electro-optic modulator had passed through the fiber. We found that a frequency drift of a few hertz was due largely to a variation in the ambient temperature that corresponded to an increase in the square root of the Allan

Characterization of an optical frequency comb using modified direct frequency comb spectroscopy

Applied Physics B, 2009
We introduce a method for determination of the absolute frequencies of comb lines within the optical frequency comb spectrum. The method utilizes the experimental and theoretical approach of the velocity selective optical pumping of the atomic ground state hyperfne levels induced by resonant pulse train excitation.

Optical frequency metrology with optical lattice clocks and optical frequency combs

2012 Conference on Precision electromagnetic Measurements, 2012
Laser frequency stabilization and atom manipulation are important techniques for optical frequency metrology. We report on the development of an ytterbium (171Yb) and a strontium (87Sr) optical lattice clock at the National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ). The result of absolute frequency measurement of the 171Yb lattice clock is shown.

Arbitrary optical frequency synthesis traced to an optical frequency comb

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
An arbitrary optical frequency synthesizer with a broad tuning range and high frequency accuracy is presented. The system includes an external cavity diode laser (ECDL) as the output laser, an Erbium-doped optical frequency comb being a frequency reference, and a control module.

Comb Line Multiplication in an Integrated Optical Frequency Comb Generator

2019 24th OptoElectronics and Communications Conference (OECC) and 2019 International Conference on Photonics in Switching and Computing (PSC), 2019
We demonstrate frequency-comb tone multiplication in an InP photonic integrated comb generator made of cascaded modulators. Tone multiplication is achieved driving the dual-drive MZM on the chip with an RF signal and one submultiple.

Properties of optical frequency combs

ILSC 2009: Proceedings of the International Laser Safety Conference, 2009
Optical frequency combs have attracted much interest over the last 10 years. They have applications in optical frequency metrology, optical atomic clocks, waveform synthesis and high field studies. Frequency combs have a very broad optical spectrum. The spectral breadth is essential for determining the comb offset frequency, which is a key quantity for

Topological Optical Frequency Combs

Advanced Photonics Congress 2024
We report the generation of nested topological frequency combs using two-dimensional arrays of coupled ring resonators that host robust topological edge states with linear dispersion.

Frequency combs applications and optical frequency standards

Proceedings of the International School of Physics “Enrico Fermi”
My presentation on “Frequency Combs” was intended to be a tutorial of the basic technology without an extended reference to the latest developments in this field. I repeated parts of my contributions to the course CLXVI “Metrology and Fundamental Constants” that was held at the same school in 2006.
