Precision frequency transfer with fiber frequency combs

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
We review methods for precision transfer of frequencies across broad optical wavelength ranges. Single-branch supercontinuum generation allows for a frequency transfer stability of < 1 × 10−17 in 1 s across an octave.

The optical frequency comb fibre spectrometer

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
AbstractOptical frequency comb sources provide thousands of precise and accurate optical lines in a single device enabling the broadband and high-speed detection required in many applications. A main challenge is to parallelize the detection over the widest possible band while bringing the resolution to the single comb-line level.

Dual‐Layer Conducting and Redox Polymer Bioanodes for Synergistic Enhancement of Microbial Extracellular Electron Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid PEDOT/Fc‐LPEI conducting/redox polymer bioanode synergistically improves microbial extracellular electron transfer (EET) in Shewanella oneidensis MR‐1. The dual‐layer interface delivers 18‐fold higher current output and 27‐fold greater charge collected than bare carbon felt, highlighting an effective strategy for high‐performance ...

Latest advances in optical frequency combs based on quadratic non‐linearity

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, 2020
Second‐order non‐linear susceptibility (χ2) is the cause of many non‐linear processes in optics including second harmonic generation, sum frequency generation and difference frequency generation. Optical frequency combs based on χ2, i.e.

Microresonator frequency comb optical clock

open access: yesOptica, 2014
Optical-frequency combs enable measurement precision at the 20th digit, and accuracy entirely commensurate with their reference oscillator. A new direction in experiments is the creation of ultracompact frequency combs by way of nonlinear parametric optics in microresonators.

Mechanically Assisted Magnetic Actuation in Ceramic‐Based Microscrolls for Fast and Durable Soft Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ceramic‐based V2O5/Fe3O4 hybrid films are shaped into butterfly‐proboscis‐inspired microscroll actuators. Magnetic triggering initiates unrolling, while geometry‐programmed elastic strain energy drives rapid recoil, enabling fast, reversible, durable, and load‐bearing actuation under near‐field magnetic stimulation.

Optical Frequency Combs Generated by Acousto-Optic Frequency-Shifting Loops [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2019
A recirculating loop that includes an acousto-optic frequency shifter (AOFS) constitutes a versatile procedure to generate an optical frequency comb (OFC) from a continuous wave (cw) laser. This scheme, implementable with conventional fiber equipment, is capable of producing spectra composed of at least hundreds of coherent lines using a single-stage ...

Friend, Not Foe: Lowered Tissue Reactivity to Long‐Term Polyimide Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The choice of optimal neural probe designs remains a major challenge in the field of neurotechnology. This study investigated the biocompatibility of several probe variations, including material, thickness, width, and implantation strategy. It highlights the clear advantage of soft polyimide probes over stiff silicon probes for better device ...
