Driving protocol for a Floquet topological phase without static counterpart
Periodically driven systems play a prominent role in optical lattices. In these ultracold atomic systems, driving is used to create a variety of interesting behaviours, of which an important example is provided by topological states of matter.

Dynamical effects and disorder in ultracold bosonic matter
In this thesis, various aspects on the theoretical description of ultracold bosonic atoms in optical lattices are investigated. After giving a brief introduction to the fundamental concepts of BECs, atomic physics, interatomic interactions and ...

A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Programming an optical lattice interferometer
Programming a quantum device describes the usage of quantum logic gates, agnostic of hardware specifics, to perform a sequence of operations with (typically) a computing or sensing task in mind. Such programs have been executed on digital quantum computers, which despite their noisy character, have shown the ability to optimize metrological functions ...

Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.

Injection spectroscopy of momentum state lattices
The energy spectrum of quantum systems contain a wealth of information about their underlying properties. Spectroscopic techniques, especially those with access to spatially resolved measurements, can be challenging to implement in real-space systems of ...

Alternative techniques for the production and manipulation of ultracold atoms
This Thesis contains details of the construction and characterisation of a compact apparatus for the cooling of ultracold atoms to quantum degeneracy, and their manipulation in flexible holographic optical traps. We have designed and built two iterations

Modulational instability of Bose-Einstein condensates in two- and three-dimensional optical lattices
We show that the phenomenon of modulational instability gives rise to coherent spatial structures in arrays of Bose-Einstein condensates confined in optical lattices.
