Nanoscale all-optical logic devices
Science China: Physics, Mechanics and Astronomy, 2018Commercial computers based on electronic logic devices have brought great changes to the world. However, traditional electronic devices are suffering from numerous technical challenges in their attempts to continue to satisfy Moore’s law. All-optical logic devices, as promising successors to their electronic counterparts, have become a major focus of ...

Nonlinear control of logic structure of all-optical logic devices using soliton interactions
Nonlinear Dynamics, 2021The all-optical logic device is the key component in the all-optical communication system and all-optical computing. The research based on the all-optical logic device is important to improve the communication efficiency. In this paper, using optical solitons, all-optical logic devices are investigated theoretically.

Semiconductor optical amplifier based optical logic devices
SPIE Proceedings, 2005All optical Boolean logic functionality has been demonstrated experimentally using integrated semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) based interferometry at 40 Gb/s. The demonstrated functions are XOR, AND, and OR. The performance of the operations has been analyzed by solving the rate equation of the SOA numerically. The high-speed operation is limited

Field-programmable logic devices with optical input–output
Applied Optics, 2000A field-programmable logic device (FPLD) with optical I/O is described. FPLD's with optical I/O can have their functionality specified in the field by means of downloading a control-bit stream and can be used in a wide range of applications, such as optical signal processing, optical image processing, and optical interconnects.

Diode laser based optical logic devices
SPIE Proceedings, 1990Dispersive optical bistability is reviewed with particular emphasis on trans- mission characteristics, time dependence, cascadability and fan-out capability of bistable diode laser amplifiers. Bistability in inhomogeneously excited diode lasers, gain quenching and polarization bistability are also discussed.

Free-space digital optics relies on optical devices which may be required to play the same role as a transistor in digital electronics. In addition to being an optical port, i.e., a modulator or emitter and a detector, they may also be required to act as a thresholding device. Such devices are called optically bistable (OB).

Phase Conjugate Optical Four Wave Mixing Devices for Optical Logic, Computation and Interconnect
Topical Meeting on Optical Computing, 1985Optical phase conjugate devices utilize a variety of physical phenomena to exactly reverse the direction of propagation of an incident optical beam.. A recent survey of some of the possible optical devices is available1. The interest in using these devices for optical logic, computation and interconnect stems from the ultrafast, subpicosecond ...
