Phase sensitive Brillouin scattering measurements with a novel magneto-optic modulator

open access: yes, 2009
A recently reported phase sensitive Brillouin light scattering technique is improved by use of a magnetic modulator. This modulator is based on Brillouin light scattering in a thin ferrite film.

Vortex knots in light [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Optical vortices generically arise when optical beams are combined. Recently, we reported how several laser beams containing optical vortices could be combined to form optical vortex loops, links and knots embedded in a light beam (Leach et al 2004 ...

Optical wavelength-modulation spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesSurface Science, 1973
Abstract Wavelength-modulation spectroscopy of solids is reviewed. The construction of a wavelength-modulation spectrometer is described and several examples on its applications to solids are given. It is shown that the results of Pseudopotential calculations agree well with the experimental observations.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Analysis of a Silicon Dual-Coupled-Ring Resonator Modulator Based on Push–Pull Coupling Tunings

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
We present a silicon dual-coupled-ring resonator modulator with push–pull coupling tunings. The basic idea of this scheme is to construct a dual-coupled-ring resonator structure in which the coupling coefficients of all coupling regions are ...

Ring-modulator-based RoF system with local SSB modulation and remote carrier reuse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A full-duplex radio-over-fibre (RoF) system based on an integrated silicon ring modulator is proposed and demonstrated. For the downstream link, a coherent dual-wavelength laser source is coupled to a silicon ring modulator in the central office (CO ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Optical Phase Locking techniques: an overview and a novel method based on Single Side Sub-Carrier modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A short overview on Optical Phase locking techniques and a detailed description of the Phase Locking technique based on Sub-Carriers modulation is presented.
