Synthesis of electrospun nanofibrous structures with controlled optical and electrical properties [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
In this study, the optical and electrical influences of 2D graphene flakes in electrospun polycaprolactone (PCL) fibers were observed. Graphene nanoplatelets were added in different concentrations into the PCL solution, and then, using the electrospinning technique, fibers were built from that solution.

Enhancement of Interfacial Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Adhesives via Synergistic Effect of Metallic Surface Treatment and α‐ZrP Nanosheets

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Synergistic enhancement of interfacial strength through α‐ZrP nanosheet reinforcement of polyurethane adhesive and aluminium anodization. ABSTRACT Polyurethane (PU) nanocomposites with enhanced mechanical performance and adhesive bonding are crucial for aerospace and automotive applications. This study investigates the reinforcing effect of α‐zirconium

Evanescent single-molecule biosensing with quantum limited precision

open access: yes, 2016
Sensors that are able to detect and track single unlabelled biomolecules are an important tool both to understand biomolecular dynamics and interactions at nanoscale, and for medical diagnostics operating at their ultimate detection limits.

Mechanically flexible and optically transparent three-dimensional nanofibrous amorphous aerocellulose

open access: yesCarbohydrate Polymers, 2016
Aerocelluloses are considered as "third generation" aerogels after the silica and synthetic polymer-based ones. However, their brittleness and low optical translucency keep quite narrow their fields of applications. Here, both issues are addressed successfully through the fabrication of flexible and mechanically robust amorphous aerocellulose with high

Comprehensive Characterization of Solution‐Cast Polycaprolactone/MXene/Gelatin Composite Films for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesBiopolymers, Volume 117, Issue 3, May 2026.
Polycaprolactone (PCL)/Gelatin/MXene composite films design and evaluation, where blending PCL and natural gelatin (bovine, porcine, and fish) and MXene nanoparticles resulted in coarse morphology, enhanced mechanical strength, and tunable cell‐material interactions, highlighting porcine‐based composite as a promising material for biomedical ...

Single atoms on an optical nanofibre

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2008
We show that single-atoms can be trapped on the surface of a subwavelength-diameter silica-fiber, an optical nanofiber, without any external field, and that single photons spontaneously emitted from the atoms can be readily detected through the single guided-mode of the nanofiber.
