Stable Multi-Wavelength Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser With Two Cascaded Single-Mode-Four-Mode-Single-Mode Fiber Interferometers

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a multi-wavelength thulium-doped fiber laser using two cascaded single-mode-four-mode-single-mode (SFS) fiber interferometers and a 150-m-long highly nonlinear fiber.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Twelve-Wavelength-Switchable Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser With a Multimode Fiber Bragg Grating

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2021
In this article, a precisely controlled, switchable thulium-doped fiber laser (TDFL) with high optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) is proposed and demonstrated.

Optical Neural Networks

open access: yesCoRR, 2018
We develop a novel optical neural network (ONN) framework which introduces a degree of scalar invariance to image classification estima- tion. Taking a hint from the human eye, which has higher resolution near the center of the retina, images are broken out into multiple levels of varying zoom based on a focal point.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Efficient Frequency-Domain Block Equalization for Mode-Division Multiplexing Systems

open access: yesPhotonics
In this paper, an adaptive frequency-domain block equalizer (FDBE) implementing the adaptive moment estimation (Adam) algorithm is proposed for mode-division multiplexing (MDM) optical fiber communication systems. By packing all frequency components into

Joint Modulation Format Identification and Frequency Offset Estimation Based on Superimposed LFM Signal and FrFT

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
We propose a novel technique for joint modulation format identification and frequency offset (FO) estimation. The linear frequency modulation signal which is obtained by a direct current signal and Fractional Fourier Transform (FrFT) is superimposed on ...

Optical Machine Learning Using Time-Lens Deep Neural NetWorks

open access: yes, 2021
As a high-throughput data analysis technique, photon time stretching (PTS) is widely used in the monitoring of rare events such as cancer cells, rough waves, and the study of electronic and optical transient dynamics.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
