Optically Pumped Bipolar Transistor

Russian Microelectronics, 2023
The properties of a bipolar npn transistor were studied when exposed to unmodulated incoherent radiation created by a “white” LED. The static and dynamic characteristics of the transistor were measured at various exposure intensities. It is shown that the change in the characteristics of the transistor under optical influence is due to an increase in ...

Optical Pumping

American Journal of Physics, 1960
A brief review is given of the basic concepts of optical pumping, followed by description of an optical pumping apparatus suitable for application to a number of experiments in an advanced undergraduate, or graduate laboratory.

Optically pumped waveguide lasers

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1976
The optically pumped waveguide gas lasers in the submillimeter and millimeter wave regions are simple, compact, rugged, efficient, practical, coherent sources. A number of new laser lines have been observed in these lasers. General considerations are given on the attenuation constants of waveguides and the rate equation models. Characteristics of these

Optical Pump Systems

1976
In optically pumped solid-state lasers the light source must supply the maximum possible light output in the spectral region that can be absorbed by the laser material. Electrical current, either continuous or pulsed, is supplied to the pump source and converted into optical radiation.

Quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifiers: optical pumping versus electrical pumping

Journal of Optics, 2011
A comprehensive comparison between the characteristics of conventional electrical pumping and the new optical pumping (OP) schemes in quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifiers (QD-SOAs) has been done and has proved that the optical pumping scheme can significantly improve the dynamical properties of QD-SOAs.

I Optical Pumping

1966
Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on optical pumping, which is a method for producing important changes in the population distribution of atoms and ions among their energy states by optical irradiation. These population changes can be monitored by the change of intensity of the light transmitted by the sample in which optical pumping is produced

Diode-pumped optical parametric oscillator

Optics Letters, 1996
Diode-pumped optical parametric oscillation has been demonstrated for the first time to our knowledge in a single Nd:MgO:LiNbO(3) nonlinear crystal. The crystal is pumped by a semiconductor diode laser array at 812 nm. The Nd(3+) ions absorb the 812-nm radiation to generate 1084-nm laser oscillation.

Optically Pumped Potassium Vapor Laser

2007 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO), 2007
We present an optically pumped continuous wave Potassium vapor laser operating in a single longitudinal and a single transverse mode at 770 nm. The measured value of the slope efficiency was 20%.

Kinetics of optically pumped Kr metastables

Optics Letters, 2014
Optically pumped lasers that use metastable excited states of Ar have been demonstrated using both pulsed and CW excitation. In terms of Paschen labeling of the states of Ar, the laser system uses excitation of the 2p9-1s5 transition, and lases on the 2p10-1s5 line.

Laser Saturation Spectroscopy with Optical Pumping

Optics Letters, 1979
Unique features can occur in laser-saturation spectroscopy experiments in which optical pumping is present. These are described and demonstrated in atomic sodium and barium.
