Nonlinear lensing mechanisms in a cloud of cold atoms [PDF]
We present an experimental study of nonlinear lensing of near-resonant light by a cloud of laser-cooled rubidium atoms, specifically aimed at understanding the role of the interaction time between the light and the atomic vapor.

Effects of Nitrogen Quenching Gas on Spin-Exchange Optical Pumping of He-3
We consider the degree of conservation of nuclear spin polarization in the process of optical pumping under typical spin-exchange optical pumping conditions.

20 kW Monolithic Fiber Amplifier With Directly Dual-Wavelength Laser Diodes Counter Pumping
In this study, we demonstrate a high-power ytterbium-doped fiber laser (YDFL) based on laser diodes (LDs) directly pumping scheme. Tandem pumping and LD direct pumping are two common schemes for generating high-brightness laser output in YDFL.

Nuclear Feedback in a Single Electron-Charged Quantum Dot under Pulsed Optical Control
Electron spins in quantum dots under coherent control exhibit a number of novel feedback processes. Here, we present experimental and theoretical evidence of a feedback process between nuclear spins and a single electron spin in a single charged InAs ...

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Optical Pumping into Many-Body Entanglement [PDF]
We propose a scheme of optical pumping by which a system of atoms coupled to harmonic oscillators is driven to an entangled steady state through the atomic spontaneous emission. It is shown that the optical pumping can be tailored so that the many-body atomic state asymptotically reaches an arbitrary stabilizer state regardless of the initial state ...

Optical Magnetometer Array for Fetal Magnetocardiography
We describe an array of spin-exchange relaxation free optical magnetometers designed for detection of fetal magnetocardiography (fMCG) signals. The individual magnetometers are configured with a small volume with intense optical pumping, surrounded by a ...

Enhancement of Xe-129 polarization by off-resonant spin exchange optical pumping [PDF]
A high power narrow line width (38 W, 0.09 nm full width at half maximum) external cavity diode laser is investigated for rubidium spin exchange optical pumping of Xe-129.
