Fermi resonance in optical microcavities

Physical Review E, 2015
Fermi resonance is a phenomenon of quantum mechanical superposition, which most often occurs between normal and overtone modes in molecular systems that are nearly coincident in energy. We find that scarred resonances in deformed dielectric microcavities are the very phenomenon of Fermi resonance, that is, a pair of quasinormal modes interact with each

Optical Resonators in the Unstable Region

Applied Optics, 1967
The spectrum of characteristic oscillation frequencies and modal losses for spherical mirror opticalresonators is derived in an approximation equivalent to geometrical optics. This is a significant approximation for unstable or high loss configurations when the Fresnel number is large.
