Abstract High‐frequency oscillations (HFOs) were discovered more than 20 years ago, and since then they have been studied intensively in the context of epilepsy. HFOs encompass a broad spectrum of oscillations, typically ranging from 80 Hz to several kHz, that include both normal and pathological oscillations, documented in people with epilepsy and ...

Microfabricated Optically-Pumped Magnetometers for Biomagnetic Applications
We report on the progress in developing microfabricated optically-pumped magnetometer arrays for imaging applications. We have improved our sensitivities by several orders of magnitude in the last ten years. Now, our zero-field magnetometers reach noise values below 15 fT/Hz1/2.

Faraday–Ramsey Rotation in Ultrathin Alkali Vapor Cells as an Analogy to Atomic‐Beam Systems
This work demonstrates that ultrathin rubidium vapor cells can emulate atomic‐beam behavior through geometry‐dependent velocity filtering. Employing a spatially separated pump–probe scheme and Faraday–Ramsey rotation, the study reveals coherent atomic dynamics without buffer gas or anti‐relaxation coatings. This approach offers a compact pathway toward

Abstract The need for comprehensive equine welfare assessments has become particularly evident amid ongoing debates about the social licence to operate in equestrian sports. During exercise, multiple physiological systems, principally the cardiovascular, respiratory, muscular, thermoregulatory, endocrine, and locomotory systems, undergo complex ...

Optically pumped alkali magnetometers for biomedical applications [PDF]
20 Optically pumped atomic magnetometers measure the Larmor frequency νL at which the bulk magnetization of a spin-polarized alkali metal vapour in a glass cell precesses around the field of interest B → 0. The precession frequency is related to the modulus of the magnetic field by νL=(γ/2π)|B → 0|, where γ/2π≈3.5Hz/nT for 133Cs, so that the magnetic ...

Development of a 3He magnetometer for a neutron electric dipole moment experiment [PDF]
We have developed a highly sensitive 3He magnetometer for the accurate measurement of the magnetic field in an experiment searching for an electric dipole moment of the neutron.

Cancellation of nonlinear Zeeman shifts with light shifts
Nonlinear Zeeman (NLZ) shifts arising from magnetic-field mixing of the two hyperfine ground-states in alkali atoms lead to splitting of magnetic-resonance lines.
