Polarisation optics for biomedical and clinical applications: a review [PDF]
Many polarisation techniques have been harnessed for decades in biological and clinical research, each based upon measurement of the vectorial properties of light or the vectorial transformations imposed on light by objects.

Field investigations of apparent optical properties of ice cover in Finnish and Estonian lakes in winter 2009 [PDF]
A field programme on light conditions in ice-covered lakes and optical properties of lake ice was performed in seven lakes of Finland and Estonia in February–April 2009.

Neural nano-optics for high-quality thin lens imaging [PDF]
Nano-optic imagers that modulate light at sub-wavelength scales could enable new applications in diverse domains ranging from robotics to medicine. Although metasurface optics offer a path to such ultra-small imagers, existing methods have achieved image

In this survey we consider optical computers that encode data using images and compute by transforming such images. We give an overview of a number of such optical computing architectures, including descriptions of the type of hardware commonly used in optical computing, as well as some of the computational efficiencies of optical devices.

Horocycles of Light in a Ferrocell
We studied the effects of image formation in a device known as Ferrocell, which consists of a thin film of a ferrofluid solution between two glass plates subjected to an external magnetic field in the presence of a light source.

Optical processes in photosynthesis [PDF]
A review of the state and analysis of works related to optical processes of photosynthesis are given. Particular attention is paid to the work on the investigation of these processes in iridoplasts and chloroplasts with photonic crystal structure. From a

Darkfield colors from multi-periodic arrays of gap plasmon resonators
We present results on colors of metal disk arrays viewed under a darkfield microscope and show that the darkfield colors can be manipulated independently of the brightfield colors.
