Defining Roles in Pediatric Palliative Care: Perspectives From Oncology and Palliative Care Teams
ABSTRACT Background Early integration of pediatric palliative care (PPC) is associated with improved symptom management, quality of life, and healthcare utilization for children with cancer. Despite this, variation persists in how PPC is understood, operationalized, and integrated within pediatric oncology programs. In particular, ambiguity surrounding

Optimal Streaming Codes for Channels With Burst and Arbitrary Erasures
This paper considers transmitting a sequence of messages (streaming messages) over a packet erasure channel. In each time slot, the source constructs a packet based on the current and the previous messages and transmits the packet, which may be erased ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Optimal Repair of Reed-Solomon Codes: Achieving the Cut-Set Bound [PDF]
The repair problem for an (n, k) error-correcting code calls for recovery of an unavailable coordinate of the codeword by downloading as little information as possible from a subset of the remaining coordinates.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Optimal Linear and Cyclic Locally Repairable Codes over Small Fields
We consider locally repairable codes over small fields and propose constructions of optimal cyclic and linear codes in terms of the dimension for a given distance and length.

Construction of Optimal Locally Repairable Codes via Automorphism Groups of Rational Function Fields [PDF]
Locally repairable codes, or locally recoverable codes (LRC for short), are designed for applications in distributed and cloud storage systems. Similar to classical block codes, there is an important bound called the Singleton-type bound for locally ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Optimal GQPC Codes over the Finite Field Fq
This paper presents the algebraic structure of generalized quasi-polycyclic (GQPC) codes, which is a generalization of the right quasi-polycyclic (QPC) and generalized quasi-cyclic (GQC) codes over a finite field Fq.
