Optimal Control Problems for Nonlinear Variational Evolution Inequalities
We deal with optimal control problems governed by semilinear parabolic type equations and in particular described by variational inequalities. We will also characterize the optimal controls by giving necessary conditions for optimality by proving the ...

Multiplicative Optimal Control Problem
In this paper, we consider a multiplicative optimal control problem subject to a system of linear differential equation. It has been shown that product of two concave functions defined positively over a feasible set is quasiconcave. It allows us to consider the original problem from a view point of quasiconvex maximization theory and algorithm.

Tracking Motor Progression and Device‐Aided Therapy Eligibility in Parkinson's Disease
ABSTRACT Objective To characterise the progression of motor symptoms and identify eligibility for device‐aided therapies in Parkinson's disease, using both the 5‐2‐1 criteria and a refined clinical definition, while examining differences across genetic subgroups.

Suppressing ineffective control actions in optimal power flow problems
Many utilities are still reluctant in adopting optimal power flow (OPF) tools for decision‐making in operation. This paper scrutinizes this issue from the perspective of whether all control actions proposed by an OPF are truly effective to an operator ...

New approach to stochastic optimal control and applications to economics [PDF]
This paper provides new insights into the solution of optimal stochastic control problems by means of a system of partial differential equations, which characterize directly the optimal control.

ABSTRACT Background Poststroke fatigue (PSF) and frailty share substantial overlap in their manifestations, yet previous research has yielded conflicting results due to the use of heterogeneous frailty assessment tools. Objective To evaluate the independent impact of frailty on PSF using a unified measurement system (Tilburg Frailty Indicator, TFI ...

Abnormality and Strict-Sense Minimizers That Are Not Extended Minimizers
We consider a constrained optimal control problem and an extension of it, in which the set of strict-sense trajectories is enlarged. Extension is a common procedure in optimal control used to derive necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for the ...

Optimal control of Newton-type problems of minimal resistance [PDF]
We address Newton-type problems of minimal resistance from an optimal control perspective. It is proven that for Newton-type problems the Pontryagin maximum principle is a necessary and sufficient condition.

The Relationship Between Inflammation and Central Nervous System in Multiple Sclerosis
ABSTRACT Aim Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune demyelination disease that is seen especially in the young population and has a progressive course, causing motor, sensory, and cognitive deficits. In the literature, the pathogenesis of MS disease and the interconnection between the immune and central nervous system in the disease have not been fully ...

Douglas–Rachford algorithm for control- and state-constrained optimal control problems
We consider the application of the Douglas–Rachford (DR) algorithm to solve linear-quadratic (LQ) control problems with box constraints on the state and control variables.
