Infinite time horizon optimal current control of a stepper motor exploiting a finite element model

open access: yes, 2014
An optimal control theory based method is presented aiming at minimizing the energy delivered from source and the power loss in a stepper motor circuit.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Research on stochastic game and optimization in complex microgrid control

open access: yes智能科学与技术学报, 2020
A microgrid which integrated by a large scale of distributed generators, storage equipment and dynamic loads has stochastic characteristics in both the power generation and the demand-side.The purpose was to discuss various decision-making and optimal ...

On Bellman’s approach to optimal control theory

open access: yesMathematical Notes, 1999
According to the author, the aim of this note is to obtain a refinement of his own result in [Math. Notes 38, 658-660 (1985); translation from Mat. Zametki 38, No.2, 265-269 (1985; Zbl 0593.49025)] concerning a certain type of generalization of the Bellman's equation satisfied by the \textit{minimal-time function}: \[ T(y):=\displaystyle \inf_{x(.)}t_1(

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Optimal Flood Control

open access: yes, 2011
A mathematical model for optimal control of the water levels in a chain of reservoirs is studied. Some remarks regarding sensitivity with respect to the time horizon, terminal cost and forecast of inflow are ...

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Investigation of an optimal control strategy for a cholera disease transmission model with programs

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics
Cholera is a disease of poverty affecting people with inadequate access to safe water and basic sanitation. Conflict, unplanned urbanization and climate change all increase the risk of cholera.

Combining stochastic programming and optimal control to solve multistage stochastic optimization problems [PDF]

open access: yes
In this contribution we propose an approach to solve a multistage stochastic programming problem which allows us to obtain a time and nodal decomposition of the original problem.
