Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

A Sequence-Filter Joint Optimization [PDF]

open access: yes2018 26th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO), 2018
This paper deals with the optimisation of a sequence and its associated mismatched filter. This question has already been addressed in the literature, by alternatively solving two minimisation problem, one per sequence, meaning that the optimisation is never performed on both sequences at the same time. So, this article introduces some methods in order

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Impact of adaptive filtering on power and false discovery rate in RNA-seq experiments

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2022
Background In RNA-sequencing studies a large number of hypothesis tests are performed to compare the differential expression of genes between several conditions.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Improving Cancer Gene Expression Data Quality through a TCGA Data-Driven Evaluation of Identifier Filtering

open access: yesCancer Informatics, 2015
Data quality is a recognized problem for high-throughput genomics platforms, as evinced by the proliferation of methods attempting to filter out lower quality data points.

Optimal sizing of a high‐speed flywheel in an electric vehicle using the optimal control theory approach

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, 2022
This study proposes an approach for finding the optimal size of a high‐speed flywheel in an energy storage system based on battery‐flywheel cooperation, called battery‐flywheel energy storage system (BFESS), supplying an electric vehicle.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Quantum Optimal Control for Coherent Spin Dynamics of Radical Pairs via Pontryagin Maximum Principle [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
This paper aims to devise the shape of the external electromagnetic field that drives the spin dynamics of radical pairs to a quantum coherent state through maximization of the triplet-born singlet yield in biochemical reactions.
