An Adaptive Human Pilot Model With Reaction Time Delay for Enhanced Adaptive Control in Piloted Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This work introduces an adaptive human pilot model that captures pilot time‐delay effects in adaptive control systems. The model enables the prediction of pilot–controller interactions, facilitating safer integration and improved design of adaptive controllers for piloted applications.

Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

Computation of a Reference Model for Robust Fault Detection and Isolation Residual Generation

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, 2008
This paper considers matrix inequality procedures to address the robust fault detection and isolation (FDI) problem for linear time-invariant systems subject to disturbances, faults, and polytopic or norm-bounded uncertainties.

On some inequality of Hermite-Hadamard type [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2012
It is well-known that the left term of the classical Hermite-Hadamard inequality is closer to the integral mean value than the right one. We show that in the multivariate case it is not true.

A Curved Brunn-Minkowski Inequality for the Symmetric Group [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we construct an injection $A \times B \rightarrow M \times M$ from the product of any two nonempty subsets of the symmetric group into the square of their midpoint set, where the metric is that corresponding to the conjugacy class of ...

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.

Linear programming with inequality constraints via entropic perturbation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1996
A dual convex programming approach to solving linear programs with inequality constraints through entropic perturbation is derived. The amount of perturbation required depends on the desired accuracy of the optimum.

Optimal Taxation and Investment‑ Specific Technological Change

open access: yesNotas Económicas, 2020
In this paper, we look at the relationship between Investment Specific Technological Change (ISTC) and optimal level of labor income progressivity. We develop an incomplete markets overlapping generations model that matches relevant features of the US ...

The Cuttlebone Blueprint for Multifunctional Metamaterials: Design Taxonomy, Functional Decoupling, and Future Horizons

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cuttlebone‐inspired metamaterials exploit a septum‐wall architecture to achieve excellent mechanical and functional properties. This review classifies existing designs into direct biomimetic, honeycomb‐type, and strut‐type architectures, summarizes governing design principles, and presents a decoupled design framework for interpreting multiphysical ...

Getting to a feasible income equality.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Income inequality is known to have negative impacts on an economic system, thus has been debated for a hundred years past or more. Numerous ideas have been proposed to quantify income inequality, and the Gini coefficient is a prevalent index.
