Optimal Reactive Power Allocation

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1987
A systematic procedure is developed to locate reactive power devices in a power system based on a set of indices, that are based on overall system conditions. After identifying the desired locations, the cost of installation and number of reactive power devices, subject to any required practical and real economic constraints, are minimized.

Sub-optimal Power Allocation for MIMO Channels

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2006
We consider t-input r-output Rayleigh fading channels with transmit-sided correlation, where the receiver knows the channel realizations, and the transmitter only knows the channel statistics. Using Lagrange duality, we develop an easily computable, tight upper bound on the loss in information rate due to the use of any given input covariance for this ...

Optimal capacitor allocation in power systems

Computers & Electrical Engineering, 1983
Abstract Static capacitors are installed at specific locations in large power systems for minimising power losses and to ensure quality of the supply system. It has been found that the number of units in each capacitor bank can be considerably reduced by suitable choice of transformer tap settings and generator voltage magnitudes, thereby reducing ...

Optimal Power Allocation for Cooperative Networks

2010 Second International Conference on Communication Software and Networks, 2010
In cellular network, the deployment of the relay station can bring spatial diversity to increase link capacity and improve communication performance. In this paper, we consider an optimal power allocation scheme for the source and the relay to minimize the bit error rate(BER) at the destination under the power and outage constraint in cooperative relay

Optimal ATC Allocation in Power Systems

2008 Joint International Conference on Power System Technology and IEEE Power India Conference, 2008
When there are transmission service requests for a specific sink/source pair in a transmission system, the ISO must allocate the ATC of that pair to the requests. Since the requests could have different types, tariffs and time frame, the allocation must be accomplished in a sound and fair manner that considers various aspects of the requests.

Optimal Power Allocation for Secure Multicarrier Relay Systems

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2011
We study the multi-carrier decode-and-forward relay communication system, where an eavesdropper exists. The source power and relay power are optimized over all subcarriers to maximize the sum secrecy rate under a total system power constraint. From the power allocation result, an optimal transmission strategy is determined among no transmission, direct

Power-Optimal Module Allocation and Binding

1999
A number of researches have addressed the problem of minimizing power dissipation during module allocation and binding [RJ94] [KC97], scheduling and allocation [MC95], register allocation and binding [RJ94] [CP95a] and trading area for lower power through pipelining or parallelization combined with voltage scaling [GOC94] [CPRR92], scheduling using ...
