Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

Incremental Sensor Placement Optimization on Water Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Sensor placement on water networks is critical for the detection of accidental or intentional contamination event. With the development and expansion of cities, the public water distribution systems in cities are continuously growing. As a result, the current sensor placement will lose its effectiveness in detecting contamination event.

Optimized sensor placement for dependable roadside infrastructures [PDF]

open access: yes2019 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference (ITSC), 2019
We present a multi-stage optimization method for efficient sensor deployment in traffic surveillance scenarios. Based on a genetic optimization scheme, our algorithm places an optimal number of roadside sensors to obtain full road coverage in the presence of obstacles and dynamic occlusions. The efficiency of the procedure is demonstrated for selected,

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Optimal sensor placement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this thesis we explore the problem of finding optimal sensor/actuator locations to achieve the minimum square error/least effort. The solution for the optimal sensor/actuator is often combinational, this means in order to solve for the solution we ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.
