Optimized Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Substructure Design Trends for 10–30 MW Turbines in Low-, Medium-, and High-Severity Wave Environments

open access: yesDesigns
Floating offshore wind is a promising renewable energy source, as 60% of the wind resources globally are found at depths requiring floating technologies, it minimizes construction at sea, and provides opportunities for industrialization given a lower ...

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Sample size estimation and power analysis for clinical research studies

open access: yesJournal of Human Reproductive Sciences, 2012
Determining the optimal sample size for a study assures an adequate power to detect statistical significance. Hence, it is a critical step in the design of a planned research protocol.

Incorporating Cost in Power Analysis for Three-Level Cluster Randomized Designs [PDF]

open access: yes
In experimental designs with nested structures entire groups (such as schools) are often assigned to treatment conditions. Key aspects of the design in these cluster randomized experiments include knowledge of the intraclass correlation structure and the

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Comparative analysis of lingual bracket transfer accuracy using fully versus partially enclosed 3D-printed indirect bonding trays: an in vivo study [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ
Background Lingual orthodontic treatment requires precise bracket positioning to ensure optimal outcomes. This study aimed to compare the transfer accuracy of fully enclosed (FE) and partially enclosed (PE) three-dimensionally (3D) printed indirect ...

Design of economically and statistically optimal sampling plans

open access: yesHacettepe Journal of Mathematics and Statistics, 2016
This paper attempts to develop four types of acceptance sampling plans under the objectives of minimizing the total loss to the producer and consumer and maximizing the rate of approaching to the ideal operat ing characteristic (OC) curve when the quality characteristic follows a normal distribution and has lower specication limit.
