OPTIMAL CONTROL IN HYBRID SYSTEMS

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
Necessary conditions for optimality have been established for hybrid systems. Unfortunately, these conditions lead to multi-point boundary value problems and they do not prevent from the combinatorial explosion when no constraints are given on the transi-tions.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Optimal control of overdamped systems

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2015
Nonequilibrium physics encompasses a broad range of natural and synthetic small-scale systems. Optimizing transitions of such systems will be crucial for the development of nanoscale technologies and may reveal the physical principles underlying biological processes at the molecular level.

New approach to stochastic optimal control and applications to economics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper provides new insights into the solution of optimal stochastic control problems by means of a system of partial differential equations, which characterize directly the optimal control.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.
