Confusion Matrices: A Unified Theory

open access: yesIEEE Access
The confusion matrix is a key tool for understanding and evaluating models in supervised classification problems. Various matrices are proposed depending on the problem framework: single-label, multi-label, or even soft-label restricted to probability ...

Regularity of densities in relaxed and penalized average distance problem

open access: yesNetworks and Heterogeneous Media, 2015
The average distance problem finds application in data parameterization, which involves``representing'' the data using lower dimensional objects.

Quadratically-Regularized Optimal Transport on Graphs

open access: yes, 2018
Optimal transportation provides a means of lifting distances between points on a geometric domain to distances between signals over the domain, expressed as probability distributions. On a graph, transportation problems can be used to express challenging

Exercise Interventions in Children, Adolescents and Young Adults With Paediatric Bone Tumours—A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bone tumours present significant challenges for affected patients, as multimodal therapy often leads to prolonged physical limitations. This is particularly critical during childhood and adolescence, as it can negatively impact physiological development and psychosocial resilience.

Equilibrium Selection via Optimal Transport [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2020
We propose a new dynamics for equilibrium selection of finite player discrete strategy games. The dynamics is motivated by optimal transportation, and models individual players' myopicity, greedy and uncertainty when making decisions. The stationary measure of the dynamics provides each pure Nash equilibrium a probability by which it is ranked.

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Convergence of Entropic Schemes for Optimal Transport and Gradient Flows

open access: yes, 2017
Replacing positivity constraints by an entropy barrier is popular to approximate solutions of linear programs. In the special case of the optimal transport problem, this technique dates back to the early work of Schr\"odinger.

Optimal Transport for Domain Adaptation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2017
Domain adaptation from one data space (or domain) to another is one of the most challenging tasks of modern data analytics. If the adaptation is done correctly, models built on a specific data space become more robust when confronted to data depicting the same semantic concepts (the classes), but observed by another observation system with its own ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Unbalanced Multi-marginal Optimal Transport

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Imaging and Vision, 2022
AbstractEntropy-regularized optimal transport and its multi-marginal generalization have attracted increasing attention in various applications, in particular due to efficient Sinkhorn-like algorithms for computing optimal transport plans. However, it is often desirable that the marginals of the optimal transport plan do not match the given measures ...
