Intelligent Tutoring Systems for Adult Learning in STEM Disciplines

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) are reshaping adult learning in STEM by providing adaptive, data‐driven instruction across classrooms, workplaces, and informal environments. In the context of ITS, this article compares generative AI, which creates personalized explanations and practice materials, with explainable AI, which focuses on ...

Isotone Optimization in R: Pool-Adjacent-Violators Algorithm (PAVA) and Active Set Methods

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper we give a general framework for isotone optimization. First we discuss a generalized version of the pool-adjacent-violators algorithm (PAVA) to minimize a separable convex function with simple chain constraints.

Clinical Spectrum and Outcomes of SOX1 Antibody‐Associated Paraneoplastic Neurological Syndromes: A Chinese Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background SOX1 antibody‐positive paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) exhibit significant population‐specific clinical heterogeneity. While Western cohorts predominantly manifest Lambert‐Eaton myasthenic syndrome (65%–80%), comprehensive clinical characterization and treatment response data in Asian populations remain critically ...

On Algorithmic Cache Optimization

open access: yesCoRR, 2023
We study matrix-matrix multiplication of two matrices, $A$ and $B$, each of size $n \times n$. This operation results in a matrix $C$ of size $n\times n$. Our goal is to produce $C$ as efficiently as possible given a cache: a 1-D limited set of data values that we can work with to perform elementary operations (additions, multiplications, etc.).

Functional and Structural Evidence of Neurofluid Circuit Aberrations in Huntington Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Disrupted neurofluid regulation may contribute to neurodegeneration in Huntington disease (HD). Because neurofluid pathways influence waste clearance, inflammation, and the distribution of central nervous system (CNS)–delivered therapeutics, understanding their dysfunction is increasingly important as targeted treatments emerge.

Continuous function optimization using hybrid ant colony approach with orthogonal design scheme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A hybrid Orthogonal Scheme Ant Colony Optimization (OSACO) algorithm for continuous function optimization (CFO) is presented in this paper. The methodology integrates the advantages of Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and Orthogonal Design Scheme (ODS ...

Complementarity of Long‐Reads and Optical Mapping in Parkinson's Disease for Structural Variants

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Long‐read sequencing and optical genome mapping technologies have the ability to detect large and complex structural variants. This has led to the discovery of novel pathogenic variants in neurodegenerative movement disorders. Thus, we aimed to systematically compare the SV detection capabilities of OGM and ONT in Parkinson's disease.

Hybrid behavioural-based multi-objective space trajectory optimization

open access: yes, 2009
In this chapter we present a hybridization of a stochastic based search approach for multi-objective optimization with a deterministic domain decomposition of the solution space.

ETEA: A euclidean minimum spanning tree-Based evolutionary algorithm for multiobjective optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
© the Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyAbstract The Euclidean minimum spanning tree (EMST), widely used in a variety of domains, is a minimum spanning tree of a set of points in the space, where the edge weight between each pair of points is their ...
