Optimum Temperatures for Postburn Cooling

Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 1965
IT IS NOW well established that the tissue damage 2,7 and death rates 6 which follow experimental burns can be significantly lessened by the early application of surface cooling. This finding has important implications for first aid and for the management of mass casualty burns.

Optimum compress temperature for wound hemostasis

Journal of Surgical Research, 1979
Abstract Compress temperatures to hasten hemostasis in surgically incised wounds have been studied. On the basis of the present data, we recommend the use of warm compresses at a temperature of 49°C to accelerate hemostasis in surgically incised wounds. Cold applications to open surgical wounds should be avoided.

The temperature optimum of the intestinal flora of the rat

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1968
Two types of experiments were performed to determine if the microbial flora of the intestinal tract of the rat was optimally adapted to body temperature. The first involved the preparation of agar-spread plates from dilutions of intestinal material and incubation at a variety of temperatures.
