Nanomaterials for Allergy Diagnosis and Treatment: Advances, Opportunities and Translational Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials offer dual applications in allergy management. For diagnosis, nanomaterials enhance analytical sensitivity and improve detection in specific IgE and functional assays such as the basophil activation test (BAT). For allergen‐specific immunotherapy, nanomaterials enable allergen masking and controlled release, and effectively modulate the ...

Orally delivered chitosan-based Salmonella subunit nanovaccine provides protective immunity against colonization by Salmonella Enteritidis in adult layer chickens

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionSalmonella contamination in poultry meat and eggs remains the leading cause of foodborne illnesses in humans. Particularly, Salmonella Enteritidis has been frequently identified as a primary source of contamination in eggs.

PDGFRα+/Integrin α2+ Fibroblasts Orchestrate Tumor Budding in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma via Mechano‐Metabolic Symbiosis: E‐Cadherin/Integrin α2β1 Adhesion and Mitochondrial Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PDGFA/PDGFRα signaling recruits CAFs to OSCC nests, and CAF‐OSCC contact drives tumor budding invasion. Mechanistically, heterotypic adhesion via E‐cadherin/integrin α2β1 activates YAP signaling in OSCC cells, inducing EMT. Concurrently, CAFs transfer mitochondria through TNTs, supplying ATP to fuel invasion.

Bioengineered Exosome‐Loaded Immunomodulatory Bioadhesive Spray Reverses Liver Fibrosis and Metabolic Dysfunction That Triggers Beneficial Gut‐Liver Crosstalk in Chronic Fatty Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Umbilical cord stem cell‐derived exosomes encapsulated in an immunomodulatory bioadhesive hydrogel spray enable localized therapy, sustained vesicle delivery, macrophage polarization, suppress systemic inflammation, and mitigate glucose and insulin homeostasis impairments in MAFLD.

Oral pulsatile drug delivery systems

open access: yes, 2005
In the field of modified release, there has been a growing interest in pulsatile delivery, which generally refers to the liberation of drugs following a programmable lag phase from the time of administration. In particular, the recent literature reports

Oral Prebiotic Polysaccharide Hydrogels Sustaining Colon Antibody Release Alleviate Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An orally administered prebiotic polysaccharide hydrogel (predaGel) based on inulin and alginate‐dopamine is stable in the stomach, adheres to the intestine, and degrades slowly in the colon. It enables site‐specific delivery of anti‐TNF‐α and anti‐IL‐12/23 antibodies, scavenges reactive oxygen species, and remodels gut microbiota, offering effective ...

Yeast Oral Delivery of DAF16 shRNAs Results in Effective Gene Silencing in C. elegans

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology
Plant Parasitic Nematodes (PPNs) are a major problem in agriculture. Damage caused by PPNs has been estimated at USD 80–157 billion annually. The estimates could be even worse in the future in the context of a growing world population in a climate change

Intra-epithelial vaccination with COPV L1 DNA by particle-mediated DNA delivery protects against mucosal challenge with infectious COPV in beagle dogs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Protection against viral challenge with canine oral papillomavirus (COPV) was achieved by immunisation via particle-mediated DNA delivery (PMDD) of a plasmid encoding the COPV L1 gene to cutaneous and oral mucosal sites in beagle dogs.

Introducing Borsantrazole: A Trifunctional Boron‐Based Pyrazole That Extends the Lifespan of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein we report a boron‐based pyrazole, (Borsantrazole ‐ a small molecule that selectively targets oxidative stress) that significantly increases survival, reduces weight loss, delays disease onset, and affects global protein changes in the SOD1‐G37R mouse model of ALS.
