Biomimetic Polymerization of Tellurocysteine: Breaking the Natural Amino Acid Radioprotection Limitation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by natural amino acid polymer‐melanin systems, this study strategically incorporated tellurocysteine to develop advanced radiation‐shielding materials. This approach transformed the primary interaction mechanism between melanin‐based materials and incident photons from Compton scattering to the photoelectric effect. Tellurocysteine‐polymerized

Resorption and tolerance of the high doses of ferrous sulfate and ferrous gluconate in the patients on peritoneal dialysis [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2006
Background/Aim. Iron supplementation plays a crucial role in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. Oral iron substitution is more convenient than intravenous therapy in PD patients, but impaired absorption and adverse effects may be limiting factors for ...

Reticulocyte haemoglobin as a diagnostic marker and its response towards oral iron therapy in paediatric iron deficiency anaemia: A feasibility study

open access: yesCurrent Medicine Research and Practice, 2021
Background: Iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) in the paediatric age group is prevalent in developing countries like India, especially in the lower socio-economic strata.

Gastric and intestinal barrier impairment in tropical enteropathy and HIV: limited impact of micronutrient supplementation during a randomised controlled trial

open access: yes, 2010
Background Although micronutrient supplementation can reduce morbidity and mortality due to diarrhoea, nutritional influences on intestinal host defence are poorly understood.

Orchestrated Engineered Polyphenol‐Peptide Condensates Coupled With β‐GP Reverses Diabetic Osteoporosis by Remodeling Mitophagy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multifunctional β‐GP@EGCG‐E7 nanoplatform is engineered by polyphenol–peptide condensation and phosphate loading. Bone‐targeted delivery, antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory activity, and mitophagy restoration are integrated in one system, enabling protection of osteoblasts and endothelial cells and promoting bone regeneration under diabetic ...

A Non‐Canonical Core Transcriptional Regulatory Circuit Orchestrates Chromatin Reprogramming to Drive Osimertinib Resistance in Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A non‐canonical core transcriptional regulatory circuit, composed of ID3, SMAD3, and NR2F2, drives Osimertinib resistance in non‐small cell lung cancer through super‐enhancer‐mediated activation of EPAS1, which couples neuroendocrine differentiation with ferroptosis evasion.

An Edible Biohybrid Platform Accomplishes In Situ Fenton‐Mediated Enteral Nanoplastics Aging and Excretion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An edible biohybrid platform triggers nanoplastics (NPs) aging and agglomeration by in situ generating hydroxyl radicals within the intestine. The enlarged NPs are unable to penetrate the intestine and are subsequently excreted. Simultaneously, probiotic biofilms reinforce the intestinal barrier.

Efficacy of oral iron supplementation is not enhanced by additional intravenous iron during autologous blood donation

open access: yes, 1998
BACKGROUND: The study compared the efficacy of oral iron combined with intravenous iron supplementation to that of oral iron supplementation alone in increasing the preoperative production of hemoglobin (Hb) in autologous blood donors with normal iron ...

Intrinsically Mitochondria‐Targeting Nanozyme via Coordination‐Assembly of Natural Quercetin for Cascade Antioxidant Therapy of Cerebral Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers that quercetin naturally targets mitochondria. By coordinating quercetin with Fe3+, we engineer an ultrasmall cascade nanozyme (MCN) with superoxide dismutase‐catalase activities. MCN crosses the damaged blood–brain barrier, scavenges mitochondrial ROS, prevents mitochondrial DNA leakage, and blocks the cGAS‐STING pathway, thereby ...

Multi‐Component Functionalized Bifidobacterium Longum Hydrogel for Multi‐Target Integrated Therapy of Colitis‐Associated Anxiety and Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH/MMP dual‐responsive Bifidobacterium longum (BL) hydrogel (INPs@BL@Gel) functionalized with baicalin, tyrosine, and inulin is constructed. It enables gastric protection, inflammation‐targeted release, and prolonged intestinal colonization. By remodeling gut microbiota, elevating beneficial neuroactive metabolites (homovanillic acid, short‐chain ...
