Invariant spectra of orbits in dynamical systems

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1994
Summary: We show that in deterministic dynamical systems any orbit is associated with an invariant spectrum of stretching numbers, i.e. numbers expressing the logarithmic divergences of neighbouring orbits within one period. The first moment of this invariant spectrum is the maximal Lyapunov characteristic number (LCN). In the case of a chaotic domain,

Actin dynamics controlled by IqgC, a RasGAP at the crossroads between the IQGAP and fungal GAP1 families

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IqgC is a RasGAP from Dictyostelium discoideum. IqgC binds RasG via its RasGAP domain and deactivates it on macroendocytic cups, thereby suppressing the uptake of fluid and particles. IqgC has a positive effect on cell‐substratum adhesion, and its RGCt domain is required for recruitment to ventral foci.

The Dynamical History of HIP-41378 f—Oblique Exorings Masquerading as a Puffy Planet

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The super-puff HIP-41378 f represents a fascinating puzzle due to its anomalously low density on a far-out orbit in contrast with other known super-puffs.

Magnetization dynamics driven by non-equilibrium spin-orbit coupled electron gas

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
The dynamics of magnetization coupled with an electron gas via s-d exchange interaction is investigated by using the density matrix technique. Our theory shows that nonequilibrium spin accumulation induces a spin torque and the electron bath leads to a ...

Orbit dynamics for unstable linear motion [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 1997 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat. No.97CH36167), 2002
A treatment is given of the orbit dynamics for linear unstable motion that allows for the zeros in the beta function and makes no assumptions about the realness of the betatron and phase functions. The phase shift per turn is shown to be related to the beta function and the number of zeros the beta function goes through per turn.

Diffusion‐based size determination of solute particles: a method adapted for postsynaptic proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We present a diffusion‐based approach for measuring the size of macromolecules and their complexes, and demonstrate its use on postsynaptic proteins. The method requires fluorescein‐labelled protein samples, a microfluidic device that maintains laminar flow for said samples, a microscope recording the emitted fluorescent signals, and an analytic ...

Electrical pulse stimulation reflecting the episodic nature of real‐life exercise modulates metabolic and secretory profile of primary human myotubes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Here, we introduced an intermittent electrical stimulation protocol mimicking the episodic nature of real‐life exercise in vitro by alternating low‐ and high‐frequency stimulation. In comparison with widely used continuous stimulation, it enhanced the rate of glucose and fatty acid oxidation, but not the myokine release.

Propagation of Space Objects

open access: yesJournal of Aerospace Technology and Management, 2015
Actual, important problems of space dynamics are related to the protection of the Earth and its close space environment. This includes the study of disposal strategies for artificial satellites, the real-time propagation of space catalogues of thousands
