Automated orbital wall fracture detection and severity classification of ocular injuries using deep learning

open access: yesScientific Reports
Orbital fractures are frequently encountered in maxillofacial trauma and can be associated with severe globe injuries (SGI). Accurate and timely diagnosis is critical to prevent long-term complications, yet subtle fractures and soft tissue injuries may ...

Anaerobic Orbital Abscess Secondary to Intraorbital Wood

open access: yes, 1993
A case of anaerobic orbital cellulitis secondary to intraorbital wood and an approach to management are presented. Retained foreign bodies should be suspected in all penetrating orbital injuries involving wood.

STING/Type I Interferon Pathway Activation Confers Multimodal Therapeutic Benefits in Osteomyelitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
STING/type I interferon signaling counteracts osteomyelitis through coordinated control of pain, bone destruction, and abscess formation. It inhibits pathogen‐induced nociceptor activation, restrains osteoclast‐mediated bone resorption, and suppresses IL‐1β‐driven neutrophil recruitment.

Posttraumatic Epidermoid Inclusion Cyst Following Untreated Orbital‐Zygomaticomaxillary Fracture: Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Timely and comprehensive treatment of craniofacial injuries is essential, as complications may arise, including epidermoid inclusion cysts. We hereby present a case of an orbital epidermoid cyst that developed a year after a patient was involved in a ...

Surgical management of a penetrating orbital injury with retained sugarcane stalk

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology. Case Reports
Orbital trauma with retained intraorbital foreign bodies (IOFBs) is relatively rare but can lead to potentially blinding injuries. We herein report a case of a road traffic accident with a retained sugarcane IOFB managed at our institution.

Bio‐Memristor Based on Clinical Bile Samples: A Proof‐of‐Concept Pilot Study for Detection of Gallbladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, we present a bile‐based memristor hardware framework that enables direct, label‐free identification of cholelithiasis and gallbladder cancer at the device level. The Ag/bile/FTO memristor features stable resistive switching and disease‐specific electrical responses, providing a conceptual foundation for circuits and an integrated ERCP ...

Supramolecular Chiral Assemblies from Benzoselenadiazole‐Alanine‐Acylhydrazone Conjugates Enable Cardioprotection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The C3‐symmetric conjugate TASe, which integrates benzoselenadiazole, alanine, and acylhydrazone modules, self‐assembles into a chalcogen‐/hydrogen‐bonded porous framework in the solid state and uniform chiral nanospheres in aqueous media. These assemblies protect cardiomyocytes from doxorubicin‐induced oxidative injury by scavenging intracellular ...
