Advanced Porous Materials for Maritime Carbon Capture

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 8, 6 February 2026.
Carbon capture from emission sources, such as marine vessels, has attracted significant attention over the years. To achieve this goal, sorbents such as metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), porous polymer networks (PPNs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs), and their post‐synthetic modifications are currently being explored.

Estructura y función de la unidad fundamental de replicación del DNA (el replicón) en eucariontes

open access: yesCiencia Ergo Sum, 2008
La replicación del dna es indispensable para la transmisión de la información genética y permite copiar el genoma con gran exactitud. Desde el siglo pasado se propuso el modelo del replicón para explicar el mecanismo general de duplicación del ...

A Link between ORC-origin binding mechanisms and origin activation time revealed in budding yeast.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2013
Eukaryotic DNA replication origins are selected in G1-phase when the origin recognition complex (ORC) binds chromosomal positions and triggers molecular events culminating in the initiation of DNA replication (a.k.a. origin firing) during S-phase.

Activity Against Pythium insidiosum and Isolated Constituents of Cordia insignis Roots

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study investigates the roots of Cordia insignis in search of novel treatments for pythiosis, caused by the oomycete Pythium insidiosum. Seven compounds are isolated, including steroids, a saponin, a coumarin, a fatty acid, and a glycoside, the latter two are reported for the first time in the genus.

Association of alcohol intake over the lifetime with colorectal adenoma and colorectal cancer risk in the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial

open access: yesCancer, Volume 132, Issue 3, 1 February 2026.
Abstract Background Alcohol drinking is associated with higher colorectal cancer (CRC) risk, but research on lifetime alcohol drinking is limited. The objective of the current study was to estimate the association of lifetime alcohol drinking with incident colorectal adenoma and cancer.

Influence of Culinary Practices on the Physicochemical, Rheological, and Functional Properties of Irvingia gabonensis Kernels Harvested in the East Cameroon Region

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 1, February 2026.
Physicochemical, rheological, and functional properties of treated Irvingia gabonensis kernels from Eastern Cameroon. ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate and assess the effects of cooking treatments on the techno‐functional properties of Irvingia gabonensis kernels. Roasting, smoking, and solar drying were the main processing methods used.

Thermodynamic, economic, and carbon emission evaluation of various Organic Rankine cycle configurations for maximizing waste heat recovery potential

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Management: X
Waste heat recovery using the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) enhances energy efficiency, lowers emissions, and reduces costs. This study evaluates ORC systems for high-temperature waste heat recovery (515.14 °C) using DWSIM software.
