Abstract Janaček’s fair copy of the piece in the album of works written mostly during his Prague studies (1874-5) is undated, but the pieces before and after it are dated. From this Straková inferred that it was composed probably between March and June 1875, and certainly after the death of Arnost Förchtgott-Tovačovsky on 18 Dec 1874 (
