Non-Abelian gauged fracton matter field theory: Sigma models, superfluids, and vortices

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
By gauging a higher-moment polynomial degree global symmetry and a discrete charge conjugation (i.e., particle-hole) symmetry coupled to matter fields (two symmetries mutually noncommutative), we derive a class of higher-rank tensor non-Abelian gauge ...

Ordering Epic R-fields

open access: yesManuscripta Mathematica, 1983
We are concerned with the following problem. Given a ring R and an epic R-field K, under what conditions can K be fully ordered? Epic R-fields can be constructed in terms of matrices over R; this makes it natural to consider matrix cones over R rather than ordinary cones of elements of K.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Economic Incentives to Retire: A Qualitative Choice Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper addresses two questions:(1) Are older persons' retirement ages significantly affected by the opportunities for income from earnings, private pensions, and Social Security and for leisure at alternative retirement ages?; and (2) How large are ...

A classification of Minkowski planes over half-ordered fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
This paper concerns a construction of Minkowski planes over half-ordered fields [5] and [20]. Solving various functional equations the Klein-Kroll types of these Minkowski planes are determined with respect to G- and q-translations and (p, q ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Relationships of properties of piecewise affine maps over ordered fields

open access: yes, 1990
With an emphasis on general ordered fields we survey relationships of properties of piecewise linear maps on vector spaces. The properties of interest are local and global variations of univalence, openness, onto condition, nonexpansiveness, and ...

Orders in quadratic fields, III

open access: yesProceedings of the Japan Academy, Series A, Mathematical Sciences, 1994
The results in this paper continue the parts I and II with the same title [cf. ibid. 69, No. 3, 45-48 (1993; Zbl 0795.11056) and the author and \textit{L.-C. Zhang}, ibid., No. 9, 368-371 (1993; see the preceding review)]. Namely, the author first disproves a conjecture posed in part I concerning a criterion for the ideal class group of complex ...

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.
