Streptococcosis on a red tilapia, Oreochromis sp., farm: a case study
Journal of Fish Diseases, 2009AbstractA commercial red tilapia farm was diagnosed with Streptococcus agalactiae infection using histopathology, microbiology and immunohistochemistry. One hundred fish were randomly taken from different weight/age groups including broodstock, market fish (larger than 150 g), on‐growing fish between 20 and 150 g, juveniles and larvae.

Atrial Tachyarrhythmias Induced By Acetylcholine In Tilapia (Oreochromis SP.) Isolated Atria
Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 2000SUMMARY1. Effects of the parasympathetic neuromediator acetylcholine (ACh) on atrial tissues vary greatly depending on the species, the type of atrial cells and experimental conditions. The aim of the present study was to investigate, with microelectrode techniques, the arrhythmogenic effects of ACh in tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) isolated atria at room ...

Fish & Shellfish Immunology
Flavobacterium oreochromis (Fo) poses a significant threat to tilapia, leading to economic losses due to mortality. Immersion vaccines, while practical for small fish, often result in limited antigen absorption. This study aimed to develop a cationic lipid-based nanoparticle vaccine using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and evaluate its efficacy ...

Reviews in Aquaculture, 2016
AbstractTilapia (Oreochromis sp.) are the most widespread aquaculture species grown and are expected to continue increasing in production to meet the growing demand for fish by an ever‐increasing human population. Fish health management is one of the major concerns in the production of aquaculture species.

Histopathological and Behavioral Changes in Oreochromis sp. after Exposure to Different Salinities
Journal of Fisheries & Livestock Production, 2013A study was carried out in the laboratory on the adaptability and tolerance of the Tilapia fingerlings, Oreochromis sp. to different salinities. This data has provided important information on the possibility of its culture in marine environment or brackish water.
