HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Evidence for a novel overlapping coding sequence in POLG initiated at a CUG start codon

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2020
Background POLG, located on nuclear chromosome 15, encodes the DNA polymerase γ(Pol γ). Pol γ is responsible for the replication and repair of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA).

Development of a fluorescent probe-based recombinase polymerase amplification assay for rapid detection of Orf virus

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2015
Orf virus (ORFV) is the causative agent of Orf (also known as contagious ecthyma or contagious papular dermatitis), a severe infectious skin disease in goats, sheep and other ruminants.

Geometric Optimization and Mechanical Performance Enhancement of Auxetic Structures for High‐Impact Applications Through Fused Deposition Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the mechanical performance of three auxetic structures, identifying a re‐entrant‐star hybrid as the most effective for impact absorption. Finite element simulations and experiments demonstrate significant gains in energy absorption and flexural strength after geometric optimization. This study investigates the mechanical performance

Genome analysis of orf virus isolates from goats in the Fujian Province of southern China

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2015
Orf virus (ORFV), a species of the genus Parapoxvirus of the family Poxviridae, causes non-systemic, highly contagious, and eruptive disease in sheep, goat, and other wild and domestic ruminants. Our previous work shows orf to be ubiquitous in the Fujian

The Dynamics of Interfacial Trap States in High‐Detectivity Near‐Infrared Photomultiplication Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photomultiplication organic photodetectors (PM OPDs) are an attractive strategy for health‐monitoring. Here, PM‐OPDs are reported with a specific detectivity of 5.7 × 1012 Jones and external quantum efficiency values of 3500% under −10 V. The dynamics of carrier trapping in these devices are elucidated through trap selective spectroscopical techniques.
