On nodal quintic fourfold [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
We use the Shokurov connectedness principle and the Corti inequality to prove the birational superrigidity of a nodal hypersurface in $\mathbb{P}^{5}$ of degree 5.

Aminoglycoside-Induced Phosphatidylserine Externalization in Sensory Hair Cells Is Regionally Restricted, Rapid, and Reversible [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The aminophospholipid phosphatidylserine (PS) is normally restricted to the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane. During certain cellular processes, including apoptosis, PS translocates to the outer leaflet and can be labeled with externally applied ...

Implication of GPRASP2 in the Proliferation and Hair Cell‐Forming of Cochlear Supporting Cells

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Schematic diagram of GPRASP2‐mediated SCs proliferation and HCs formation. GPRASP2 deficiency results in increased lysosomal degradation of SMO. GPRASP2‐mediated SMO/GLI1 signalling promotes SC proliferation, which contributes to HC formation. GPRASP2‐mediated SMO/β‐catenin signalling is implicated in HCs fate specification and differentiation ...

Cochlear duct length along the outer wall vs organ of corti: Which one is relevant for the electrode array length selection and frequency mapping using Greenwood function?

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, 2019
Cochlear duct length (CDL) measurement or estimation is a hot topic for various research groups in the cochlear implant (CI) field as of today. Getting the CDL along the outer wall (LW) and organ of corti (OC) is possible but considering the clinical ...

The complete absence of cytoplasmic γ‐actin results in no discernible phenotype in mice or primary fibroblasts

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Mice and mouse embryonic fibroblasts homozygous for an Actg1 allele edited to translate β‐actin instead of γ‐actin (Actg1‐coding beta) are devoid of γ‐actin protein. We demonstrate that these Actg1c‐b/c‐b mice present with no measurable phenotype in survival, body mass, activity, muscle contractility, or auditory function.

Intrapopulational variation in head shape correlates with soil structure heterogeneity in a head‐first burrowing amphisbaenian, Trogonophis wiegmanni

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
Morphological traits evolve to solve ecological requirements. Amphisbaenians are fossorial reptiles with different snout shapes for burrowing head‐first underground, but how these head shapes have originated is little known. Here, using 2D geometric morphometrics, we found that individual Trogonophis wiegmanni amphisbaenians inside the same population ...

Hypergeometric Equations and Weighted Projective Spaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
We compute the Hodge numbers of the variation of Hodge structure of the middle cohomology (with compact support) of the Landau-Ginzburg model dual to a weighted projective space. We state a conjectural formula for the Hodge numbers of general hypergeometric variations. We show that a general Landau-Ginzburg fibre is birational to a Calabi-Yau variety
