A brief historical perspective of otitis externa in dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The history of otology and otitis externa (OE) goes back to the earliest days of medicine, with notations made in early Egyptian writings and evolving to our modern‐day textbooks and publications. Conclusions and Clinical Relevance The history of OE in dogs is closely tied to the history of otology and veterinary dermatology, and ...

Cisplatin-Induced Ototoxicity in Rats Is Driven by RIP3-Dependent Necroptosis

open access: yesCells, 2019
Cisplatin-induced early-onset ototoxicity is linked to hearing loss. The mechanism by which cisplatin causes ototoxicity remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to identify the involvement of receptor-interacting protein kinase (RIP)3-dependent ...

The human intelligence evolved from proximal cis‐regulatory saltations

open access: yesQuantitative Biology, Volume 13, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract The divergence rate between the alignable genomes of humans and chimpanzees is as little as 1.23%. Their phenotypical difference was hypothesized to be accounted for by gene regulation. We construct the cis‐regulatory element frequency (CREF) matrix to represent the proximal regulatory sequences for each species.

Behavioral characteristics in sensing mechanism of the Corti

open access: yesComputational and Structural Biotechnology Journal, 2023
Some experiments can’t be realized because the cochlea’s Corti is the most delicate and complex sensory organ. In this paper, some typical and special behavioral characteristics in the process of sensation were found in medical clinic.

Motivic Decomposition and Intersection Chow Groups I [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
For a quasiprojective variety S, we define a category CHM(S) of pure Chow motives over S. Assuming conjectures of Grothendieck and Murre, we show that the decomposition theorem holds in CHM(S). As a consequence, the intersection complex of S makes sense as an object IS of CHM(S).

Use of scanning electron microscopy in the cochlea of guinea pigs

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, 2020
Introduction: The use of electron microscopy in the study of the inner ear has allowed us to observe minute details of the hair cells, especially in ototoxicity studies; however, the preparation of this material is a difficult and delicate task.

Scanning Electron Microscopy of Nerve Fibers in the Dog Cochlea [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The nerve fiber arrangement inside the organ of Corti in the dog was studied. Thick sections were cut serially from celloidin-embedded cochleas and observed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM).
